Trials: when it feels hard to trust God.

Do you ever feel as if it is harder sometimes to trust God than to rely on your own understanding?

It’s certainly a fair question.

Unfortunately, sometimes Christians can paint the picture that once we accept Jesus as Lord of our lives that it’s all sunshine and rainbows and trials will never come our way.

Fair warning, it’s actually quite the opposite. The truth is, the closer we grow to God, the more of a threat we become to our very real enemy.

So how do we overcome the trials set before us?

First, we must shift our perspective. Instead of viewing God as an angry ruler who allows trials to happen, we have to begin viewing God as the One who has equipped us for every trial we may face.

The blood of Jesus has delivered us from the enemy. We now have an escape from the afflictions. Jesus said we would have trouble in this world, but to be of good cheer, because He had overcome the world.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

James 1:2-3

On our own, we lack the strength and understanding to persevere through trials unscathed, but under the blood of Jesus, we have access to the very authority that conquered the grave and raised Jesus to life again.
